SURJ ROC, the Rochester chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice, stands with PAB workers in their efforts to unionize. As an organization supporting POC-led movements for racial justice, we recognize the PAB as an important step toward preventing police violence and mass incarceration of our Black, Brown and impoverished neighbors, and serve on the PAB Alliance. We call on Mayor Evans to recognize PAB Workers United and stop wasting city taxpayer dollars on union-busting. We further call on City Council to fill long-vacant positions on the Police Advisory Board, and on the Mayor and Council to demand that the RPD fulfill its duty to provide information necessary for the PAB to complete its investigation into police misconduct.
